This project made a difference in our community by having an outdoor classroom so students could plant flowers and vegetables and have hands-on experience in the garden of Science. We had parent volunteers, teachers, and students to help in the garden by building flower beds, weeding, and planting. Students painted rocks and flower pots to decorate the garden. Due to COVID-19 and the closure of Lawrence County Schools we were not able to have the Raptor Trek event in the schools. Partial completion of the project impacted the community by the Bird Jeopardy game taken into the classroom that would not have been conducted without the purchase of materials for the grant. The students had the opportunity to conduct research on the different types of birds native to North Alabama. Once the research was done the students used the internet and local bird watchers to order the necessary supplies for the project. Some of the supplies were ordered.
